Harman Baweja’s peculiar dressing style…

Don’t get us wrong. We’re only talking about Harman Baweja ‘s peculiar habit of cutting the necks of his T-shirts.

The hero of Love Story 2050 doesn’t like wearing tees with tight round necks. He says he feels suffocated in them. So he does his own improvisation to make the tees comfort-fit. He takes the scissors and cuts the brand new tees around the neck to make them wide on the top.

Harman says he has been doing this for many years.

So it was quite obvious for him to do the same to the costumes of his next movie Victory in which he plays a cricketer and wears tees in most of the scenes.

While shooting the film, Harman took the scissors and haphazardly cut off necks of all his tees. Everyone on the sets – not the least the director – was shocked to see Harman do it.

But when Harman wore them for his scenes, almost everyone approved that broad-neck tees suited him.

So the actor shot many portions of the film happily clad in his self-improvised clothes.

Meanwhile, Harman’s launch vehicle ‘Love Story 2050′ hasn’t been able to set the cash registers ringing at the box-office. It has done fairly average business. However, the movie has given Harman a good launch, for he is already on his way to work with some of the best filmmakers in Bollywood.

Bachna Ae Haseeno->>Ranbir-Deepika

Ranbir Kapoor’s next film

Ranbir KapoorRanbir Kapoor’s post-”Saawariya” project, a romantic musical for Yash Raj Films, had been struggling to find an appropriate title. Finally, it has one – “Bachna Ae Haseenon”, which harks back to his father’s chartbuster.

“But I don’t think we decided to name the film ‘Bachna Ae Haseenon’ to suggest a link with my past. Sure, the song was a big R.D. Burman chartbuster in its time. My dad, mom and I are all huge fans of RDB,” Ranbir told IANS.

“My parents’ biggest hits were composed by him. But more than the instant connectivity, I think the title was selected because it’s very apt for my film. It’s about this guy’s journey in life and his different encounters with various women,” he added.

The film, which has the young superstar courting Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone, is 60 percent complete and is expected to open Aug 15. Apart from acting, Ranbir has another passion, but not too many people know about it. It came out in the open when Bollywood played a charity benefit match against a professional team of soccer players at the Abhijeet Kadam Memorial Football Cup tournament in Pune.

Most clearly Ranbir was man of the match. He not only surprised the spectators and his colleagues with his expertise at the game but came home to Mumbai triumphant, having scored four out of the seven goals scored by the Bollywood team.

Suniel Shetty, who was present at the match, just can’t stop raving about Ranbir, who walked away with the best male debutant at Filmfare for his performance in “Saawariya”.

“I was so bloody surprised! I thought Ranbir was a damn good actor. But I didn’t know the boy played soccer like a dream. He’s just so good on the field; it’s scary,” said Suniel.

Suniel confesses he is a cricket fan, while his son is a big soccer fan.

“I was there for the charity football Tuesday for my son’s sake though because of school he couldn’t attend.”

And why does Suniel find the thought of Ranbir playing soccer so well scary?

“Because sports is finally giving Bollywood a run for its money,” observes Suniel. “Ranbir plays soccer like a professional. Now Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta have gone into cricket.

“Let the IPL (Indian Premier League) matches begin and the cinema theatres will be deserted. First the board exams in March and then the IPL matches in April, I think the movie business is in big trouble this year.”

Why do girls always fall for the wrong guy? Their mothers warn them about him.

Their friends shake their heads disapprovingly. Their minds tell them to escape while the going is good. But no! Oh no! Their hearts are another story altogether.

You see, they are always sending all the wrong signals. His name alone is enough to scramble their brains and set their hearts racing.

Meet Raj (Ranbir Kapoor). He is the stuff of dreams, with the looks of a ‘butter wouldn’t melt in my mouth’ good boy.

Who can blame him for falling in love as many times as love is fortunate enough to find him. It’s not his fault that he’s a heartbreaker, its in his DNA.

Come… discover his three love stories; Raj and Mahi (Minissha Lamba), Raj and Radhika (Bipasha Basu), Raj and Gayatri (Deepika Padukone).

Different ladyloves at different times in his life. And each one of them teach him a little bit about love and a little bit about life, in their own sweet, sexy or sassy way.

Come fall in love… three times over!

Tusshar Kapoor:My fight with Ekta has been hyped

Tusshar Kapoor says his recent argument with sister Ekta Kapoor over the publicity campaign of their situational comedy ‘C Kkompany’ has been exaggerated.

Tusshar designed the publicity campaign for the film, but Ekta rejected it. This led to a heated argument between the two and they did not speak to each other for two days.

‘It was just a brother-sister kind of cold war that has been hyped. Yes, we did not speak with each other for a day or two but we don’t carry our fights for long, ‘ Tusshar told over phone from Mumbai.

The matter was sorted out after Tusshar agreed to incorporate some of Ekta’s suggestions in the campaign.

‘It was just an argument but later on we both agreed and came to a common consensus, ‘ the actor said. Tusshar is usually referred to as either Jeetendra’s son or Ekta’s brother.

Asked whether this gave him an identity crisis, he said: ‘I don’t really look at it that way. I am an actor and I have made my own mark. My name in being associated with my father or sister doesn’t affect me at all.

It would have if I were not successful. I’m quite happy with the way my career is shaping up. I’m learning every day and I have no regrets.’

Also, there have been comparisons drawn between brother and sister regarding their success quotient.

But Tusshar said, ‘There is no question of comparison between Ekta and me. I’m an actor and she is a producer and both of us belong to different mediums professionally.’

He will now be seen romancing Raima Sen in ‘C Kkompany’ that releases Aug 22.

‘Raima plays my girlfriend in the film and a gangster’s sister. I’m in love with her. It becomes an awkward situation where my character (a crime reporter) faces trouble in getting married to a gangster’s sister, ‘ Tusshar revealed.

Made under Balaji Motion Pictures, ‘C Kkompany’ is the directorial debut of Sachin Yardi, who wrote ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum’ and ‘Traffic Signal’.

Apart from Tusshar and Raima, the film also stars Anupam Kher and Rajpal Yadav in pivotal roles along with Mithun Chakraborty.

It is the story about three middle class friends who are in need of money and decide to play a prank, which goes awry. And co-producer Ekta makes a small appearance in the movie.

So is sister Ekta finally stepping into the realm of acting?

‘She is not interested in acting. That is her professional choice. She is more on the creative side behind the camera, which is a personal choice, ‘ said Tusshar

Know all about Smriti Irani aka our Tulsi

Smriti Zubin Irani (born 23 March 1977) is an Indian actress and politician, popularly known from the famous Hindi television soap opera, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, in which she used to play the main character of Tulsi Virani.

Her character “Tulsi” was of the ideal wife, mother, and family member. The huge initial success and the subsequent continued patronage of the largely female audience of the show has been instrumental in changing the fortunes of the production house Balaji Telefilms and in creating a successful genre of tearjerker family dramas, which still continues in the Indian TV industry.

In 2003, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party which was quick to give her a ticket to fight the Lok Sabha elections from Delhi’s Chandni Chowk constituency. Although she suffered a defeat in the elections, this five consecutive best actress award winner continued with the BJP, while most other actors who had joined the party during the time deserted the party. Her commitment and hard work made the party realize her true potential and it made her a member of the National Executive (the highest decision making body of the Party) as also Secretary BJP Maharashtra and a member of the Maharashtra Executive. Smriti Irani while campaigning for the BJP has traveled the length and breath of India and interacted with various people understanding India’s diverse culture. She also runs her own “NGO” under the name of People for Change, which is providing drinking water to the poor in India’s remote areas.

Today Smriti Irani has also turned a producer with her own entertainment company Ugraya Entertainment. Its first production “Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan” (A little bit of land a little bit of sky) was in collaboration with Balaji Telefilms, after which her company entered into a strategic alliance with the Aditya Birla Group for producing software for television with it’s first production being “Virrudh” (Opposite/Against), a daily soap for Sony TV. Her production house also is running another serial “Mere Apne”(My own) where Smiti Irani is one of the lead characters with Vinod Khanna. Besides producing television drama-series, Smriti’s production house also has produced two stage presentations Kuch Tum Kaho, Kuch Hum Kahein (Something you say, somethings I will say), a social comedy and Maniben.Com, a comedy.

On April 2007, Smriti decided to quit Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi due to a fall-out between her and her producer, Ekta Kapoor. Smriti’s last episode was on 6 June 2007 where she dies in a truck accident. She has currently stepped back into the role replacing Gautami Kapoor, who played the role for approximately 11 months while Smriti was absent.

Early life

Smriti Irani was born as the eldest of the three sisters to a Delhi based family. Her father owned a courier business and her mother is a Bengali, related to Tripti Mitra, a well known Bengali actress of yesteryears.

She married her childhood best friend Zubin Irani. She is the mother of little Zohr Irani and Zoish Irani, and step mother to Shanelle Irani who is Zubin’s daughter from an earlier marriage with model coordinator Mona Irani.

Career

At the age of 18, she told her father that she wanted to come to Mumbai to work. In 1998, she entered the Miss India contest without the knowledge of anyone in her family and was surprised to be short-listed and came to Mumbai to participate in the finals. Her father was astounded at her decision to enter the contest. No one believed she could make it to the finals. She borrowed Rs 2 lakh from her father on the condition that she would return it. She came to Mumbai and began preparations to enter the final of the contest with earnestness. She had her contest outfit designed and made by Manish Malhotra. She made it to the final round becoming one of the final five contestants.

Desperate to pay her loan back, she appeared for the Jet Airways hostess interview. Her sister, who also applied, got the job but Smriti was rejected. She then took a counter job at McDonalds, serving burgers and swabbing the floors and cleaning tables. Throughout these months of desperation, she kept visiting various agencies, doing auditions and portfolios and leaving her pictures at every TV production company. She was present in the Famous Studio in Mumbai for auditions every day but no one took her seriously.

Finally, lady luck began to shine on her. She was chosen to do the black and white commercial for Whisper. Next, she anchored a show called Filmi Batein for In Mumbai and Etc. channels. Shrey Guleri of Prime Channel saw these appearances on television and called her. As a result, she did some episodes of the show called Bakeman’s Oh La La. Shobha Kapoor in turn saw these and she asked her to meet Ekta at Balaji Telefilms. Smriti met Ekta and as time passed, thought nothing was coming through. But one day, she was asked to come over to audition for Tulsi’s role in KSBKBT she was chosen for this role and the rest, as they say, is history. After KSBKBT became the top soap in India, her career was made.

Sajid Khan’s new talk show

Comic actor and Bollywood director Sajid Khan will now be seen cracking jokes while chatting with Bollywood celebrities on his new talk show ‘Sajid’s Superstars’.

Sajid will use humour to dig out the deepest of secrets from the stars, including Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Shahid Kapur and Ranbir Kapoor.

‘I always wanted to do my own chat show on television. It is totally a fun Bollywood show, keeping the respect for each of my guests intact. They are all my friends and guests, so I feel they should be respected.

‘But I assure you that it will have lots of masti (fun) and mazza (frolic),’ Sajid told IANS.

Sajid was here for the launch of the new entertainment channel Colors on which the hour-long show would be aired every Saturday, starting July 26.

The show is well segmented, says Sajid. ‘Even if you want to go to the loo in between the show, you won’t,’ he quipped.

Sajid added: ‘My show will have gossip and controversy and all from the horse’s mouth. The sort of talk that will happen on the show will not be available on any magazine or TV show.’

‘We will have stand-up comedy and also analyse the worst and best scenes of the actors who will come on the show. I believe this would be the most popular show of 2008,’ he maintained.

But considering that ‘Sajid’s Superstars’ will have the biggest of Bollywood names gracing it, comparisons with director Karan Johar’s popular talk show ‘Koffee with Karan’ are inevitable.

Sajid agreed but went on to explain: ‘Each chat show has its own plus point. Karan undoubtedly did a fabulous job in ‘Koffee..’, but it was in English and so it catered to a niche market.

‘My show is in Hindi and I hope it does well and people enjoy it.’

Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket’s ugly sides

Ekta Kapoor’s new reality show Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket has already set its foot on 9x.

This show has it all starting from bollywood to television..

TV celebrities like Panchi Bora, Jay Bhanushali, Reshmi Ghosh, Twinkle Bajpai, Chetan Hansraj and others will be paired with contestants selected across the country. There are 6 male and female contestants along with celebrities.

In the history of reality shows this is the first time some ugly comments gave been passed by the contestants against the celebrities in front of the judges which include important people like Zeenat Aman, Shabana Azmi, Jitendra, Amrita Singh and others. The contestants went to the extent of showing fingers which was censored. The main person behind it is Puneet(we have his picture for you below).

Now the question is was it all preplanned to grab more TRPs or not. Like Ekta’s K-soap this K-Reality Show also had lots of drama. It is the first time it has happened and it is also the first time Ekta has set her foot in Reality World. Well we don’t know what is true but since it is a family show evry thing must be kept within limits.

After the show was aired we tried to contact Ekta Kapoor and according to her nothing was preplanned and she said she will personally speak to all the male contestants regarding this.

Another drama on the first episode was the withdrawal notice of Akashdeep Saigal (Ansh/Eklavya of Kyunki..). Akashdeep has opted out of the show on health issues. Due to this his partner is likely to be eliminated. But the judges want a solution without eliminating anyone without giving her a chance. This can also be a preplanned step to catch more eyeballs and TRPs as we all know Ekta is old and experienced player in this field.

Ram-Gautami Kapoor says NO to Ekta-Mahabharat

After Gautami Kapoor decided to turn down Ekta’s Kahani Hamaray Mahabharat Ki, her husband Ram Kapoor has also decided to follow suit.

Reports DNA After Hours that the actor claims that he wants to focus at the work at hand rather than take up more work…

“I just want to do one project at a time,” says the actor. “I am busy with Kasamh Se and it takes up a lot of my time.”

Ram also states that actors like Ronit Roy and Hiten Tejwani may be able to juggle multiple projects and shows but “that doesn’t mean I would have to do the same. I don’t intend to work in several projects at a time,” he adds.

The industry shudders to make Ekta mad… And Gautami allegedly didn’t even listen to the role that Ekta had to offer. She just said ‘no’ outright! So isn’t the couple afraid of straining ties with the most powerful woman in the industry?

“This is a false impression of Ekta that people have,” says Gautami. “She is a gem of a person. When she took me in Kyunki… she agreed to all my conditions. I am sure she would approach me whenever she has some more good roles for me.”

Seven astrologers selected Ekta’s Krishna in Mahabharat

Television tycoon Ekta Kapoor is in no mood to take any risk for her biggest project ‘Kahani Hamare Mahabharat Ki’. She has had seven astrologers flown in to zero in on a suitable infant to play young Lord Krishna in the series.

Apparently, Ekta deputed a large team from her production department to hunt for details about kids who were born on Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, last year.

After a search of almost three months, the team collected a list of over 150 infants out of which only 25 kids were short-listed, a release stated. The astrologers checked their horoscopes and finally a child named Krish was selected to play the role.

Balaji Telefilms plans to shoot on a large scale the episode in which their on-screen Lord Krishna would be born.

Chetan Hansraj:It will be challenging to play Bheem!!

Chetan Hansraj plays the pivotal character of Bheem in Ekta Kapoor’s Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki. But this is not the first time Chetan is part of a mythological show.

Ironically, Chetan starred in the earlier Mahabharat, produced by B R Chopra, as well. He was about 15 years old, and played the young Balram. He has also been a part of Prithviraj Chauhan, playing the negative character, Bheemdev.

Chetan has not started shooting for Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki yet. Though the serial will premiere on July 7, his portions will be shot only after 10 days.

  • He spoke to us about his Mahabharat experience.

Tell us about the lavish sets, locations and costumes.

It is a spectacular set. We are shooting in Mumbai, Wai, Ladakh and Jaipur.

Manish Malhotra has designed the costumes. The costumes and jewellery are traditional, but with a modern and fresh look. It does not fall into the mythological stereotype. Audiences will be able to relate to it.

What kind of research have you done for your character, Bheem?

I have not read any book on the Mahabharat before. Now, I am reading one to know the character better.

Bheem had a great body, so I have being working on it. I have to look like an able-bodied man, who can defy his enemies. I am trying my best to look good on screen. I’m having high protein food now. I have eggs and cornflakes for breakfast, and roasted chicken and boiled vegetables for lunch and dinner. I avoid potatoes and rice.

Did the concept of six pack abs exist in those times?

How do you know it was not there?

What kind of response have you got?

Everybody loved the promos and I am very happy with it.

Since the show has been advanced, is the cast working harder?

All of them are working round the clock. They have started shooting the childhood of the Pandavas and the Kauravas.

You played junior Balram in B R Chopra’s version of Mahabharat.

I had played that role years ago. It was the role of a lifetime for any actor. I feel I’m coming home, since I am playing Bheem.

I had a problem with the dialogues when I played Balram. Even now, it was tough initially. But it will be challenging.

You have played negative characters in most of your shows. Do you think people will accept you in this new avatar?

I played a positive role in Kkusum but my negative character Sasha in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki made me popular. When they accepted me in that, I am sure they will accept me in my new avatar also.

Are you still in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki?

Right now, my character in Kahani is not being shown. So I am only doing Kahani Hamarey Mahabharat Ki and a reality show, Kaun Jeetega Bollwood Ka Ticket.

Ronit Roy: Nervous about playing Bhishma!!

After essaying the popular role of Mihir Virani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Rishabh Bajaj in Kasauati Zindagi Kay, Ronit Roy will switch over to another popular character on Indian television.

Ekta Kapoor’s Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki will see him play Bhishma, earlier played by Mukesh Khanna in BR Chopra’s version of Mahabharat.

He spoke to us about his new role.

How did you get the role?

Ekta Kapoor told me that she was making a spectacular Mahabharat, and I said that I would love to be part of the show. I read the Mahabharat, and was convinced that if there was a character I wanted to play, it had to be Bhishma. I sent an SMS to Ekta and told her that I wanted to play Bhishma. She agreed.

Why did you want to be a part of this show?

I respect Ekta Kapoor’s creative judgments, and I like working with her. I only take up projects that excite me and feel passionate about. When I was approached for Mahabharat, I had informed Balaji that I wanted to finish my current projects and then start with this show and they agreed.

Why Bhishma?

Bhishma is one of the most powerful and beautiful characters in Mahabharat. The character is larger in magnitude and I am proud that I am playing Bhishma. At the same time, I’m very scared and nervous too.

The first face that comes to mind when you think of Bhishma is Mukesh Khanna.

I am proud to play the character of Bhishma, which Mukesh Khanna essayed in B R Chopra’s Mahabharat, and made history. The new generation has not seen the old Mahabharat; they will be seeing it for the first time. So it will be a big challenge to get accepted. It’s a huge task and I will try my best to justify the role.

Mukesh Khanna said in an interview that it is dangerous to remake an epic and that it will be a flop.

Mukesh Khanna is a senior actor; he has every right to give his opinion. As far as the show is concerned, whether it is going to be a hit or a flop, we will know once it goes on air on July 7. Let us leave it to the audience.

Since this is your first mythological show, did you have any problem with the dialogues?

I speak good Hindi. I had a problem with chaste Hindi for a couple of days. Now, I’m used to it.

What kind of preparation did you do for this role?

I prepared at two levels. One, being the son of Ganga signifies purity. He would also have the qualities of his father, Shantanu, a Kshatriya king. The journey of Bhishma from Gangaya to Bhishma Pitama reflects various shades. To depict so many shades makes it challenging for an actor. I have to keep both in mind and make sure my mannerisms fit my character.

Tell us about your look.

The look and the costumes are very different from what we would normally imagine. We don’t have mukut and golden armour. There is a different kind of headgear for different characters. I am very comfortable with the traditional costume, dhoti.

Tell us about the shooting experience.

I have been shooting for this show for the last two months in Wai, Ladakh, Jaipur and Mumbai. We shoot for 10-12 hours a day. We are trying to keep an episode bank since the show will be aired before the scheduled time.

It has been a fantastic experience. This show is produced by one of the biggest production houses, Balaji Telefilms. Ekta has a great vision and is producing Mahabharat on a bigger scale than the earlier one.

What next?

I am just doing Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Mahabharat.

Ekta’s Mahabharat-A MUST READ

Ekta Kapoor’s soon-to-be-telecast production of the Mahabharata (retitled Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki, kyunki “K” ka hona zaroori hai) promises to change the landscape of mythological serials in much the same way that her daily dramas transformed how we look at Indian families. Some predictions for what we can expect to see on this new show:

– In a case of inventive rewriting, the character of Bhishma, the grand old man who shows more longevity than most of his great-great-grandchildren, will be turned into a woman and played by the actress who enacted the role of the timeless Ba in Kyunki Saas bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. This will save the casting directors some trouble.

– Each of Draupadi’s five weddings will be shown in loving detail, over several weeks, with a budget of Rs 200 crore set aside exclusively for the costumes.

– Dramatic twists will abound. During a teary family showdown, it will transpire that Dhritarashtra’s blindness was caused by the cumulative glare from the necklaces worn by the women in his family. After the failure of the vastra-haran attempt, it will be revealed that Draupadi, being a dutiful wife, was wearing all five of her wedding saris at the time. (“No wonder she looks so fat,” Duhshasana will remark, causing Bhima to swear the fearsome oath that he will catch hold of Duhshasana one day and force-feed him bean sprouts.)

– There will be at least one cat-fight between Draupadi and Subhadra, with chiffon and jewellery flying about the palace and an emasculated Arjuna watching nervously from a corner of the room. The number of speedy zoom-ins and zoom-outs in this scene will break all previous records for daytime soaps and the episode will win a special achievement prize at a Balaji Telefilms awards show.

– One of the features of an Ekta Kapoor soap is the ostentatious piety of the characters (that is, when they aren’t busy conniving to destroy each others’ lives). This is most notable in scenes where family members gather at the puja room together, fold their hands and moist-eyedly sway their heads in unison as celestial music plays on the soundtrack. In Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki, where one of the key characters is God Himself, this sort of behaviour will cause serious disruptions in the plot. Each time Krishna enters a room, everyone will stand in a line and start singing bhajans loudly. These scenes will buy the scriptwriters a few weeks’ time to plan the next plot twist.

– Unfortunately, the censor board will disallow the scene where Krishna and his family fold their hands and sway piously in front of statues of the Kapoor family.

– Wherever possible, sentences will begin with “K” words. For instance, when Satyavati is asked why her son, the vagrant scribe, doesn’t live with her in the palace, she will reply, “Kyunki Vyas bhi kabhi sadhu tha.”

– There will be unexpected promotional guest appearances at crucial points. Midway through the episode showing the death of Abhimanyu, Tusshar Kapoor will appear onscreen to announce the forthcoming release of his new film ChakraView.

– Though the Mahabharata war lasted 18 days, it will take six years’ worth of episodes to telecast, because of the Principle of Reaction Shots, crucial to any Balaji serial. Each time a character shoots an arrow at another, we will be shown reaction shots of every man, horse, elephant and vulture on the battlefield. These scenes will make the pace of Ramanand Sagar’s soporific Ramayana comparable to that of an Indiana Jones film.

– The arrows will, of course, travel in slow motion; the more important ones like the Brahmastra will take at least four episodes to reach their target. But since the weapons will be dressed in colourful saris, viewers won’t mind.

It is said of the Mahabharata that “what is not here is nowhere to be found”. The tagline for Kahaani Hamaaray Mahabharat Ki will be “what is here is nowhere else to be found”.

Shopping with Aditya Narayan

Aditya Narayan in an exclusive inverview for Sibasish Tinsel Town

Q. Where do you usually shop from?

A. I go to many places for shopping and there’s no particular place or shop I can name.

Q. How often do you shop?
A. Normally I don’t get time but I try to take out time within every three months.

Q. Do you prefer to shop abroad more? Where and Why?
A. Yeah, I prefer shopping abroad. I like LA (Los Angeles). The best branded and seasonal cloths are available over there.

Q. What kind of stuff are you fascinated more about/pick up more often- Outfits or accessories or gadgets or decorative pieces or any other?Aditya Narayan
A. I am a complete gadget freak guy and I have various kinds of things. Recently I have bought a 42 inch Plasma TV, which I have put up in my bathroom. I watch it while having shower.

Q. Shopping memories from your childhood…
A. Mostly my mom used to do shopping for me from shops around Santacruz. I had a very bad dressing sense during my childhood days. I wore my pants up to my stomach (high waist, you can say). Can you imagine I even wore the combination of pink shirt and pants, etc. I would say my childhood fashion was disastrous. But at the same time these kind of outfits make you look cute when you are a child.

Q. Your take on flea markets and rasta shopping?
A. Sometimes you get very good stuffs even on rasta. It’s like lotus in dirt. You should choose a right combination between branded and roadside stuff. I have a 1 lac rupees watch and at the same time my shoes which I bought roadside costs 1500.

Q. Your advice to shopoholics?
A. Invest your money where you look good. Lots of things will come in and go out in fashion. It doesn’t mean that anything looking good on one will also look good on you. You will have to make the selection of what is suitable for you and will look good on you.

Q. Shopping tips (where and how should they shop) for readers ….
A. To be very honest Mumbai is the best place to shop. Nowadays there are number of malls in Mumbai where you can get good branded stuff. Then shopping at Linking Road and fashion street is also fun. You can wear anything and go out with your friends, I mean with guys, but while going out with girls stick to your basic style and don’t experiment on that day.

‘Jaane Tu…’ got a superstar opening: Aamir Khan

Light college drama ‘Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na’ won the hearts of audiences on the day of its release and Aamir Khan, whose nephew Imran debuted in the film, says it got an opening only a superstar’s movie would get.

”Jaane Tu…’ got a response as strong as ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ (Aamir’s debut film). It got an opening which only Shah Rukh (Khan) or Hrithik’s films get,’ Aamir, who is also a co-producer of the film, said at a press conference here late Friday.Aamir Khan

Aamir, who was accompanied by Imran, actress Genelia D’Souza and director Abbas Tyrewala, said the movie’s fresh look and young star cast had made it popular.

Asked about his creative contribution towards ‘Jaane Tu…’, he asserted that Abbas was the main creative force behind the movie.

‘The only thing I did for the film is that when Abbas brought me the script I said it is a great script. Go with it,’ Aamir said.

But Abbas reacted quickly and said: ‘Aamir is being too humble. He gave me various suggestions from time to time which were very useful to me.’

Audiences just loved the film and adored Imran, who is touted as the new chocolate boy on the block.

‘The first show of ‘Jaane Tu…’ was housefull,’ said Sachin Shah, manager, KT Multiplex in suburban Mumbai.

Said Tenzin, a student: ‘It is a peppy young movie, a lot of fun, is very fast and doesn’t drag at all. You don’t realise how it gets over. Imran is adorable.’

But Imran still has his head firmly on his shoulders and said: ‘The audience has a lot of expectations from me as I am a star’s nephew. So there is huge pressure on me. I’ll do my best to live up to the expectations of my fans.’

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film got an overwhelming response at the box office on its first day.

‘The film got a flying start, collecting more than 80 percent in morning shows and was 100 percent in noon shows across the country. It’s one of the biggest starts of this year. The reports are very good and the film is expected to enjoy a strong, meritorious run in days to come,’ Adarsh said.

All is well between Kareena and Harman

Lines quoting Harman as making uncharitable statements about Kareena’s acting abilities had the new kind on the block shell- shocked and embarrassed.

“I’d never speak like that about anyone, least of all someone who’s a senior and was gracious enough to work with me when I was just starting out. That she finally opted out of Love Story 2050 doesn’t take away from the fact that we got along really well, ” Harman said.

The remarks attributed to him about Kareena being ‘robotic’ in her performances had Harman so upset that he apparently turned asocial for a couple of days.

“Harman has never bad- mouthed anyone. That’s not his upbringing. Kareena is a huge star and a friend. Who is Harman to talk like that about her?

Emotional Scorpio that he is, Harman was really disturbed, to the extent that he told his father that if this is the kind of demolition job the rivals and opponents are going to do with him he’d rather not be a star, ” divulges a source very close to Harman.

Harman’s agony ended on Wednesday while he was in Delhi to do an event connected with Love Story 2050. On an impulse he smsed to Kareena telling her how awful the words attributed to him about her made him feel.

Apparently Kareena who is in the US shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambhakt Ishq replied back in a long heartfelt message, saying she has been a part of the film industry long enough to know how such things work.

She apparently ended the gentle and sensitive message by assuring Harman she had no ill-feelings towards him and was looking forward to seeing his feeling.

Harman can’t keep the relief and joy out of his voice. “All I’ll say is, I’d never talk like that about anyone. Kareena is someone I truly admire. And if people want to spoil my relations with her, let them try. It won’t work.”

Vidya Balan in Rakhi Sawant Talk Show

Actress Vidya Balan was invited to Rakhi Sawant’s new talk show and the two ended up becoming good friends. And now Vidya can’t stop praising the item girl.

‘I really like Rakhi for the way she has made a place for herself. No one else is quite like her. She has marketed herself as an extremely unique entity. I think it’s truly admirable,’ Vidya told SF.

Doing a chat show with Rakhi was something Vidya hadn’t even thought of, ‘but when she invited me I didn’t hesitate for a moment’, the ‘Parineeta’ actress said.

And the fact that Aamir Khan also turned up to be part of Rakhi’s show was a bonus Vidya hadn’t anticipated.

‘Rakhi recorded with me and Aamir. I finished my episode with her and then Aamir came in. I think he will be her guest on her first episode. And I’m on her second episode.’

Vidya says she was surprised by the intelligent questions put by her host Rakhi.

‘She conducted the interview straight and simple. There was none of the flamboyance associated with her. And that really surprised me,’ Vidya said.

The two of them had a heart-to-heart chat and, yes, Vidya and Rakhi are the unlikeliest of friends now.

‘There’s a hunger in her to excel to prove the naysayers wrong. I quite empathize with that,’ she said.

The actress, who stars opposite Shahid Kapur in ‘Kismat Konnection’ next, firmly believes that ‘when you want something you get it’ and cites her personal experience.

‘When I joined films, Aziz uncle (Aziz Mirza) wasn’t making films after his wife’s demise. I so badly wanted to work with him. Two years later he called me for ‘Kismat Konnection’. Somehow I always end up realising my secret wishes.

‘I remember years ago when I was happy doing my ads and not even dreamt of being an actress I saw Pradeep Sarkar’s music video with Shubha Mudgal. I desperately wanted to be in his music videos. The next thing I know I was offered his video for Euphoria’s ‘Aana tu meri gali’,’ Vidya said.

She added: ‘Dada (Sarkar) then promised he’d cast me whenever he made a feature film. He kept his word with ‘Parineeta’.’

And Vidya tells audiences to expect the unexpected from her.

‘I got ‘Kismat Konnection’ although Shahid had already been signed on and I was at that time working with a more senior generation of co-stars like Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar. But I wanted to be part of whatever Aziz uncle made and here I am.’

Aishwarya Rai is a complete foodie

With a figure to die for, the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan says that she not only avoids diets but is also a complete foodie.

“I love food. I eat a lot. And I am not embarrassed about it. I know it is kind of impossible to believe that I love eating and indulge in all my favorite foods whenever I get the chance, but that’s the honest truth.” Ash said to an unbelieving audience recently.
But in public Ash exercises restraint so that people do not stare at her. At home she gives way to her weakness.

The only time Ash had to diet was to prepare for the role in Dhoom 2 in which she had to cut her weight to a miniscule 54 kilos.

“It was a painful experience. I had to be 54 kgs and so for a month I was on a strict diet. That was the most painful period for me. And to add to my misery, I had to work out” Ash remembered.

At present Ash said she has a good metabolic rate and does not need to work out but she hits the gym a couple of times a week to keep fit.

Reminiscing about her movies she says she looks well fed in most movies except ‘Dhoom 2′ in which she looks well toned. But ‘Dhoom 2′ brings back unpleasant memories of her dieting.

Ash revealed that during the shooting of Sarkar Raj , the Bachchan family used to carry home cooked food.
