Rajshree Thakur quits Saat Phere..

October 23, 2008
Saloni ka safar ends here as the leading actress is all set to bid adieu to its audiences.

On of the favorite bahus of television, Saloni aka Rajshree Vaidya is quitting her brand show Saat Phere on Zee. The actress will be taking a break for sometime and will hit back to small screen with a new show.

“Yes, I’m quitting the show as I need a break. It’s been three years that I had been working non-stop. I will come back and may be with a new show,” says Rajshree.

If you quit, don’t you think this may harm the popularity of the show as the title in itself is Saat Phere, Saloni Ka Safar? “Well it’s nothing like that. Each and every character has its own importance in this serial. If I leave, the show will not go off air. I’m sure the producers will work out on some track,” she quips.

“I’m happy that Saat Phere has successfully completed its three years. My wish is that this serial should grow more in the coming years,” chirps the actress.

So what’s next for this dark beauty? “For now I’ll take a break and will concentrate on my family life. After marriage I have not got to spend much time with my family as I was shooting continuously; thus I thought it’s the best time when I can be around with my people,” she adds.

Are you planning to start a family soon? “Yes I would love to start my family, but not so soon. For now I want to enjoy my married life,” she concludes.

According to our source, “We have not yet finalized whether to replace Saloni or to focus on some other track. There are chances of a leap being taken and the story focusing on Saloni’s daughter, let’s see what happens.”

The production house has not finalized anything on this matter. We tried calling Sunjoy Wadhwa, Producer Sphere Origin, but he was unavailable for comments.

Why is Kyunki Ending…….

The end of an era; ‘Kyunki’ dies an unnatural death

Spicezee Bureau

Mumbai, Oct 22: Eight years after Ekta Kapoor’s magnum opus sob-sob family drama ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ ruled small screen, the show is finally drawing to a close this November.

But sad as it may sound the show has not been allowed to die a natural death, instead it has been forced to go off air as Star group unit has served a notice to the producers of the show calling for a termination of sourcing and telecasting the show.

Just like the show itself, the end to the maha saga has been no less than overdramatic as the channel and production house are dragging each other to the court. But for those of you who are still unaware as to what happened here’s the sad story.

Star group unit has stated that it would terminate sourcing and telecasting popular television show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ from Nov 10.

Once one of India’s top-rated shows, ‘Kyunki’ is produced by Balaji and the termination is in breach of contractual obligation owed by the Star group to Balaji, the content maker said in a statement to the BSE.

Shares in Balaji fell as much as 13.3 percent to 94.20 rupees after the news and recovered slightly to trade 11.42 percent down at 96.20 rupees at the close of trade in a firm Mumbai market.

Star was paying a premium for ‘Kyunki’ due to its popularity and to prevent Balaji from providing other broadcasters with shows at the same time slot, two analysts said. But as newer shows stole ratings, the premium lost relevance, they said.

According to TAM Media Research, ‘Balika Vadhu’, a drama on a child bride, and Star’s ‘Bidayi’ topped the ratings charts, while ‘Kyunki’ didn’t feature among the top five shows in the Hindi general entertainment genre.

Analysts say that while they were expecting the show to be cancelled, the announcement came 2-3 months earlier than expected, signalling more losses for Balaji.

“For 2-3 months, there will be a decline in revenue of Balaji,” said an analyst from a Mumbai brokerage who declined to be named. “It’s definitely a negative for Balaji.”

The 8-year-old series ‘Kyunki’ gained popularity as an early Hindi soap with the central character of a daughter-in-law, ‘Tulsi’, played by Smriti Irani and has crossed 1,500 episodes, according to Balaji’s website.

In August this year, Star and Balaji said they will cancel their joint venture agreement to launch regional language channels and the Indian broadcaster will sell its 25.99 percent stake in Balaji.

The founders of Balaji are entitled to purchase the stake on their own or through a third party for 190 rupees a share.

Star, whose flagship general entertainment channel Star Plus, is the top-rated channel, faces close competition from new entrant Colors, a joint venture between Viacom Inc and the Network18 group, TAM data showed.

Its other rivals include New Delhi Television’s NDTV Imagine and general entertainment channels owned by Zee Entertainment, Sony Entertainment and Sahara

Twinkle Bajpai is another Tellywood actor who is fascinated by the realm of reality shows. After participating in 9X’ Kaun Jitega Bollywood Ka Ticket and being surrounded by controversies galore, she is now seen in another reality show, Tyohaar Dhamaka on 9X.

Speaking to Telly Buzz about the show, Twinkle says, “Tyohaar Dhamaka is a new reality show. This is my fifth reality or if you count only the dance reality shows, it’s my second one. This show again has four zones and three participants representing each zone. I represent the Central zone along with Narayani Shastri and Yash Pandit.” Being surrounded by so much of controversy in her previous reality show, what compelled her to take up another one? She quips, “I have absolutely no qualms about doing reality shows. I do not believe in controversies and if I did, I would not be participating, I would be sitting at home. When I know that I am not wrong, why should I let it affect my decisions?”

When asked about her experience dancing with her co-actors, she says, “It was an extremely amazing experience dancing with them. I learned a lot from them especially Narayani. She is an accomplished dancer and has helped a lot with my dancing. “

Apart from Tyohaar Dhamaka, Twinkle will also be seen dancing in 9X’ upcoming reality show, Jalwa 4 2 ka 1.

No more ‘K’ factor for Ekta..

October 16, 2008
The Queen of the Television industry is all set for a change… To know more read further…

For almost a decade now, television has been dominated by soap queen Ekta Kapoor. But the downfall of two of her most popular shows, Kahaani… and Kyunki… marks the end of the K-factor for Ekta.

If sources are to be believed, the latest buzz in the industry is that Ekta will no longer make shows with titles starting with the trademark ‘K’. “This is true. Ekta has decided to drop the K from all the titles of her upcoming shows”, informs our source from the production house.

Ekta has even gone to the extent of renaming her upcoming project on Star Plus. The show that was earlier called Kaisi Ye Mohobbat Hai now has two new names in the pipeline, Mainu Ishq Da Lagiya Rog or Tujh Sang Preet Lagayi Sajana.

Her new show on NDTV Imagine which was earlier titled ‘Kabhie Kabhie Isse Junoon Kehte Hai’ might also not see the traditional ‘K’. “The title of the show has not been decided yet”, adds our source.

Ekta Kapoor sure believes in keeping up with changing trends. Now we will just have to wait and see what the Czarina’s new lucky alphabet will be

Bips n Vijender in Nach Baliye 4 premere……

October 15, 2008
Bipasha Basu and the dashing Vijender Kumar could not contain their excitement as they performed together for the inaugural episode of Star Plus’ Nach Baliye 4…

She may have shimmied to ‘Kaun banega mera lucky boy’ for the inaugural episode of Star Plus’ Nach Baliye 4, but it turned out that Bipasha Basu was the lucky girl to have met one of the current heart throbs of the nation — Vijender Kumar.
The good looking boxer who recently got home the bronze in the Olympics Games held at Beijing met up with the Bengali bong shell right after her dance performance and both, as onlookers put it, couldn’t contain their excitement.

In any case, Vijender who has admitted to having a weakness for Bollywood girls had Bipasha coo at a press conference recently on how she would love to go on a date with him. Though that didn’t happen we are sure after their Nach Baliye meeting, the two did some catching up on boxing and Bollywood. But having said this, we sincerely hope we don’t have to see some really close-ups of the two (remember the last time Basu had met up with soccer star Christiano Ronaldo and the ‘dangerously close’ kiss they had shared which she dismissed as a cruel camera angle).
